| Carolyn headed the art department of Fayetteville-Manlius School District in suburban Syracuse, New York and taught painting and drawing at the high school until her retirement in 1994. During her years of teaching Carolyn frequently used the human figure as a vehicle to teach students the perceptions necessary to develop the eye of the artist. She was honored by here peers in 1993 by being named Outstanding Art Teacher of Central New York by the New York State Art Teachers Association. The figure has often been her chosen entry in group shows. Her figure work has received recognition in area art shows including a painting that was judged Best of Show in an Associated Artists of Central New York Annual show and a figure study entitled "Grace" was awarded Best of Show in the Vera House (a santuary for battered women) First Invitational Art Show. |
