In 1994 she was diagnosed with having cancer. Nan battled the sarcoma for over two years. As an artist Nan offered herself through her poem - a chronicle of the cancer. As a teacher she has given us lessons about caring, and dignity, and courage, and love.

a few other poems by Nan Farady:

Nan was an enthusiast of the visual arts, ofter encouraging her students to "read" the story found in paintings. Nan's poem The Gleaners, by Nan Farady, based on the painting "The Angelus" by the painter Millet, hangs in the English office here at F-M High School.

As a guest Nan would often give the gift of a poem. Years ago when my oldest daughter was in 8th grade Nan gave her a copy of her poem about a Hippopotamous, which my daughter memorized to recite in her English class.
