Carolyn Coit, an artist, and Nan Farady, a poet, have been coloring each other's life and work for years. The Everson Museum of Syracuse art show of portrait studies represents a long-time friendship and collaboration between the poet working her way through chemotherapy for recurring sarcoma, and the painter working to document her friend's amazing resilience as she progresses through this illness with courage and grace.
Nan Farady (on left) taught poetry and English at Fayetteville-Manlius High School. She is a published poet and recipient of many grants and awards including the alumni poetry citation given by Boston University.
Carolyn Coit (on right) headed the art department of Fayetteville-Manlius School District and taught painting and drawing at the high school until her retirement in 1994.
The Everson Museum of Art show represented a shared time combining the work of the artist with the thoughts and feelings of the poet.
