Parental Notification Under the No Child Left Behind Act According to the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, parents may request specific information as to the qualifications of their children’s classroom teacher(s) and teaching assistants.
The following may be requested:
• Whether the teacher has met State qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade level and subject area in which the teacher provides the instruction.
• Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.
• The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree; and whether a child is provided services by teaching assistants, and, if so, their qualifications.
