Parent Council is a forum for parents in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District to meet informally with the superintendent and other district staff to discuss topics relevant to our students.  The sessions are informal and open, and parents are an integral part of discussions that occur.

For the 2016-2017 school year, the six scheduled meetings will be divided into two halves; a group of three meetings earmarked as community focus groups and another set of three meetings to be dedicated as superintendent’s coffees to address topics which were once the domain of the former parent advisory committees.   

Focus Groups: One set of Parent Council meetings will serve as a standing “community focus groups” where the members of Parent Council will be called upon to provide feedback to school officials on such topics as school facilities, instructional programming, and the school budget.

Superintendent Coffees: The second set of Parent Council meetings will be informal gatherings to address any parent-generated concerns that once were the domain of the parent advisory committees.  These former advisory committees once addressed parent concerns in “athletics,” “special education,” as well as “gifted and talented/enrichment instruction.”

Parent Council meets in a casual, informative and parent-friendly setting.   There are no required committees to join or projects to complete – other than just sharing information in an effort to promote two-way communication between the home and the school.  Please join Parent Council and become better-informed about what's happening throughout the school district.

Employing a “student first” mindset, the meetings will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on the first of each month (when the first of the calendar month falls during the work week) throughout the entire school year in the District Office Conference Room, 8199 E. Seneca Turnpike, Manlius.  This will permit the meeting dates to rotate throughout the work week in order to accommodate as many people as possible.
