  COUNSELING

Mrs. Julie Wolf, Counselor

The elementary school counselors in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District are an integral link in the educational system. Through the K-4 counseling program, elementary counselors promote personal success by enhancing the development of academic skills, interpersonal skills, and self-understanding. The elementary counseling program also educates students in decision-making, problem solving, goal setting and self-awareness.

The elementary counseling program is delivered through a multitude of vehicles:

Individual Counseling: May cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-esteem
  • Relationship issues
  • Peer pressure
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Family issues
  • Communication
  • Stress management
  • School related issues

Group Counseling: Peer support groups run throughout the school year covering a variety of issues.

These groups include:

  • Newcomers Club
  • Banana Splits (children experiencing parental separation or divorce)
  • Conflict resolution
  • Social skill streaming
  • Peer relationships
  • Bereavement and stress

Classroom Presentations: Working closely with classroom teachers, elementary counselors deliver lessons specific to individual needs of each classroom.
