Welcome to The Site-Based Team Web Page!
SBT Mission Statement
As part of the requirements of the New York State's Compact for Learning, each of the buildings in our district formed Site-Based Teams. The Site-Based, or shared decision making team, consists of five parents, five teachers and the building administrator. The teachers and parents serve two-year terms from September through June, and meet each month.
Site-Based planning is a process designed to involve parents, teachers and administrators in making shared decisions. Its purpose is to improve schools in a framework of trust and collaboration among staff, parents and the community. The main goal is to improve student achievement and student success. A secondary goal is to strengthen community support for the schools by fostering greater public involvement in and "ownership" of the schools.
The process provides for collaboration in decision making and for shared responsibility and authority for school improvement at the building level. At the same time, the sharing of authority and responsibility does not diminish the ability of the Board of Education, superintendent or building principals to fulfill their legal responsibilities for the supervision and management of the school district or building.
The SBT meetings are open to anyone interested in attending. Meetings for the 2016-2017 are listed below. Meetings are held in the Mott Road conference room from 3:45-4:30.
