K-8 Academic Enrichment Program
Wellwood Middle School
The Academic Enrichment Program is a curricular needs-based program that provides the means for differentiated instruction with a schoolwide focus.
The Fayetteville-Manlius enrichment program is based on Dr. Joseph Renzulli's Schoolwide Enrichment Model. The Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) is a blueprint for total school improvement using a flexible approach to curricular differentiation and in-depth enrichment activities.
After a student has been identified for service, the Academic Enrichment teacher and the classroom teacher(s) discuss the student's curricular needs and plan a schedule that includes the topic to be studied as well as student expectations.
Students may receive curricular extension for more than one academic subject. Some students will receive service throughout the school year, while others may participate for parts of the school year. Students are notified of enrichment lessons.
A report is sent to parents from the Academic Enrichment teacher providing an overview of the topic(s) studied and a summary of student performance in the enrichment program.
