Kenna Kingdom Math
| First Grade Math | | First grade math curriculum allows for the children to engage in many hands-on activities, using a variety of manipulatives. These activities help to encourage problem solving and strategic thinking while strengthening computation skills. Often this learning comes in the form of a game! For more information regarding math curriculum and content, please visit TERC Investigations! Also, for great student practice games, click here! | Each math lesson is broken down into three parts: | | 1. Whole Group Introduction and Instruction | | 2. Practice Component (individual, in pairs, or small group) | | 3. Whole Group Strategy Share | The children will need continued practice and reinforcement of the concepts learned in class! For this, each child is asked to keep a plastic math bin at home. We will be sending game instructions and materials home throughout the year. Please add these items to your child’s math bin when you recieve them! Your child should be playing a math game from his/her bin weekly! This repetition is key in helping to keep your child's skills sharp! *Here is a link with additional ways to help your child practice number formation! | Below is a list of the math game directions and/or materials that have been sent home. Please make sure that these math items are in your child's Homework Box! | | Updated November 27, 2012 -
