  • Math Review
  • Review Math HW
  • Launch: Introduce Problem/Situation
(problem-centered investigative approach to math concepts)

Developing Mathematical Problem Solvers

  • Discuss the connection of math concepts to real-life situations
  • Include activities that ask students to integrate and apply math concepts

Connected Math Program (CMP) At A Glance

  • It is problem centered.  Important mathematical concepts are embedded in engaging problems.  Students develop understanding as they explore problems individually, in groups, or as a class.
  • It provides practice.  The in-class problems and homework give students practice with important skills, concepts, and algorithms.
  • Goal: All students should be able to reason and communicate proficiently in mathematics.  They should have knowledge and skill in the use of vocabulary, forms or representation, materials, tools, techniques, and intellectual methods of the discipline of mathematics.  This includes the ability to define and solve problems with reason, insight, innovation, and technical proficiency.
