Former dean of admission and leading advocate for students in the college planning process, Peter Van Buskirk, will present a case-study orientation to college admission, “The Admission Game” 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Fayetteville-Manlius High School auditorium.
This interactive presentation for students and parents features four candidates applying to a fictitious college. Attendees will learn how candidate credentials are assessed by admission officers with a focus on academic program development, essays and letters of recommendation.
Van Buskirk will discuss the implications for admission as selective institutions have been forced to reimagine their selection processes given the COVID-related disruptions to classroom instruction, testing and opportunities for non-academic pursuits.
“The need for such programming is particularly acute given the unprecedented health and economic challenges we have been experiencing,” said Van Buskirk.
His high-energy, creative programming has informed more than 2,000 audiences worldwide.
