Data Center Help Desk Operator (12-month position)

LOCATION: ICC/Technology Department

HOURS: Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours/week)

SALARY RANGE: $40,000 – $47,500

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet Civil Service competitive class requirements for Data Center Help Desk Operator and willing to sit for exam. This position is responsible for identifying problems occurring within the data processing network of the district.

  • Answers questions regarding systems procedures, on-line transactions, system status and downtime;
  • Determines whether problems are caused by hardware, software, communication devices or operator error;
  • Record problems in a manual or automated tracking log;
  • Refers problems that cannot be resolved to appropriate IT professional; and
  • Makes follow up calls to check status of resolutions.
  • Good knowledge of the operation of computer hardware, software, peripherals and communication devices as well as security programs and procedures.
  • Possess the ability to explain the use and capability of computer hardware, software, peripherals and communication devices.
  • Be customer support driven and willing to go the extra mile to support the users of the district.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing, with network users, staff, students, and parents.
