Cross Training Camp

Tuesdays, Mrs. Niver, Gym

Open to 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. This activity is for any student looking to be active through a variety of fitness activities that range from running, use of the fitness center, crossfit, and HIIT (high intensity interval training). At times we may meet outside or in the gymnasium.

Historical Fiction Book Club

Thursdays, Mrs. Stephens, Room 110

Over the course of the year, we will read at least four historical fiction books, Skype with authors, and engage in great discussions of this educational genre.  Snacks will be provided. We will not be meeting every week.  Limited to fifteen 7th & 8th graders.

Hornet’s Nest Club

Open to all grades. Come be a part of the school store club. Learn about the world of retail by helping to order, unpack, price and display items. Students will also help determine how profit from the store will be used. (Hornet’s Nest Club will begin on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021)

Jazz Improv

Jazz Improv is a fun and exciting way to get better at your jazz skills and make music with your friends. One of the most expressive and liberating things in music, Improv is open to all instruments including rhythm section (piano, bass, drums, guitar).  We will learn the basic head-solos-head form of jazz combo playing along with some basic theory and ear training as we play along with real and recorded instruments.

Math League

Grades 7 & 8.  Students can join the 7th and 8th grade math teachers for math enrichment and challenging math activities. Practice for the county math league will occur during this time as well.

This chorus is open to all 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who love to sing. We typically prepare a medley of songs from a Broadway show to perform in concert. Join us to help select the Broadway show music you would like to sing!  No audition needed, just a love of singing and fun.

Science Olympiad

Tryouts are open to students in Grades 7 and 8.  A team will be selected following tryouts. The opportunity exists to engage in scholastic competition with neighboring school districts.  Days and times to be determined.

Scrabble Club

Student Leadership Club

Selected Mondays, Mrs. Asztalos, Mrs. Baickle & Mrs. Langendorfer, Rooms 305/310/120

Open to all grades. Join our club to help develop a building-wide environment of kindness and acceptance, create new friendships, practice leadership, and support the community through fundraising efforts, such as the annual FM Pantry Food Drive. Listen to the announcements for meeting dates and location. Snacks will be provided.

Ukulele/Recorder Club

Tuesdays, Mrs. Weber, Room 318

The club is open to any interested 5th-8th grader who want to learn how to play an instrument. Students will learn chords to accompany songs on ukulele and notes to play song melodies on recorder. The Ukulele portion will run from Dec. 10 to March 10, and Recorder March 17 to May 26. Students of all playing abilities are welcome in this club.

Voices of Thunder

This vocal ensemble is for any student in 5th-8th grade who have an unchanged voice, cambiata, tenor, or bass singer. We will focus on singing through the voice change while performing popular, musical theatre, jazz, and barbershop music.
