F-M students and staff head back to school

While lingering warm weather could suggest otherwise, summer vacation has officially concluded for  Fayetteville-Manlius School District students.

On Sept. 5-6, F-M students and staff kicked off the 2018-19 school year.

The first day of school typically brings with it some anxiety as students find their way to new classrooms and meet their teachers, but there were lots of smiles, hugs and high-fives as they greeted old and new friends and were welcomed by beloved teachers and staff.

Students in kindergarten through ninth grade started school Sept. 5. Students in grades 10-12 begin Sept. 6.

At F-M High School on Wednesday, freshmen had the building to themselves with members of the Link Crew, a designated group of junior and senior class mentors who guide freshmen as they transition to high school. Link Crew leaders greeted freshmen, gave them tours of the building and offered tips on how to have a successful year.
