On Friday, Dec. 18, the Fayetteville-Manlius School District was notified that five individuals within the school community tested positive for COVID-19.

The individuals include the following:

  • An Enders Road Elementary School student who was last in school on Dec. 7. Contact tracing determined that no staff or students need to quarantine.
  • A Fayetteville Elementary School student who was last in school on Dec. 1. Contact tracing determined that no staff or students need to quarantine.
  • An F-M High School staff member who was last in school on Monday, Dec. 14. Contact tracing determined that 10 students need to quarantine.
  • Two Wellwood Middle School students, one last in school on Dec. 1 and the other last in school on Dec. 14. Contact tracing determined that no staff or students need to quarantine.

Due to privacy laws, the district cannot provide any additional information about the individuals who tested positive or those who must quarantine. If you would like to be tested out of an abundance of caution, please visit the New York State COVID-19 web page to find a testing location near you or talk with your healthcare provider.

The individuals who tested positive and those quarantining will not return to school until they meet the protocols set by the New York State Department of Health.

The district announced Friday, Dec. 18, that because of the rise in COVID-19 cases in the community and the challenge of securing substitutes for those staff members out of work due to illness, quarantine or other reasons, all F-M schools will shift to remote instruction only Dec. 21-23.

The district’s winter recess is Dec. 24 to Jan. 1. At this point in time, the district plans to return to its regular in-person hybrid learning model on Monday, Jan. 4.
