To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, face coverings must still be worn by anyone attending or participating in Fayetteville-Manlius School District’s outdoor events, including athletic contests.
On April 27, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) relaxed some of its outdoor mask mandates, but continues to recommend that fully vaccinated people wear a mask at outdoor spaces where the risk of Covid-19 is unclear, such as at sporting events, parades, concerts and other crowded places.
“The safety of our students, staff and community members is paramount,” F-M Superintendent Craig J. Tice said. “COVID-19 data continues to trend in a positive direction, but we’re not out of the woods yet.”
Earlier this school year, the district implemented several health and safety precautions in an effort to allow sporting events and other extracurricular activities to resume while keeping students, staff and community members safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The district will continue to follow these precautions, including masking requirements, in accordance with state and local health guidelines.
In the event that the protocols would change, the district will update the community with any public health guidance revisions that could impact students, staff and families.
