The June 1 Fayetteville-Manlius School District Parent Council meeting is canceled due to the emergency school closure.
An overview of the proposed 2020-21 F-M school district budget, which was set to be discussed at the Parent Council meeting, will instead be presented by F-M Superintendent Caig J. Tice and Assistant Superintendent for Business Services William Furlong to community members virtually.
The video will be posted to the district’s website soon and will replace the school budget forums that were traditionally held in both local public libraries.
Budget vote is June 9
In an executive order issued on Friday, May 1, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that this year’s school budget vote and board of education election will take place on June 9, exclusively by absentee ballot due to the COVID-19 public health crisis.
Prior to June 9, F-M residents can expect to receive by postal mail a budget edition of the district’s community newsletter, F-M News and a budget notice. All qualified voters will also receive by mail an absentee ballot with a prepaid return envelope.
Qualified voters are defined as U.S. citizens who are 18 years or older and have lived in the district for at least 30 days prior to the vote.
The district will continue to update the community via the district website with any new information and frequently asked questions.
Any time-sensitive, critical information will be shared via the district’s SchoolMessenger notification system, which sends email, text message and phone call notifications, depending upon how parents subscribed to the system.
