Positive Case Monitoring over the Holiday Recess

Dear F-M Community,

As we begin our winter recess I wanted to provide you with an update on our COVID-19 reporting process. Our COVID-19 landing page includes a weekly dashboard report as well as a link to the New York State dashboard. Both dashboards are up to date as of December 22 and will be updated again at the end of the winter recess period.

As you will notice from the dashboard trends, our school district has witnessed an increase in positive cases especially at the high school. While we do not have evidence that this spread is occurring in the classroom, the trend is worth noting as we move into the break period. To that end, I urge you to remain vigilant during the winter recess period as our school district represents a microcosm of what is transpiring in the local Central New York community.

Accordingly, if any student or employee tests positive for COVID-19 during the winter recess please continue to report those test results to your school building principal or school nurse by email (preferred) or by voicemail as the results become available. While the district will maintain its practice of monitoring positive case patterns during the recess, the tabulations will not be done on a daily basis nor will any school exposure notifications be dispatched and will be delayed because of the break

If adjustments to the instructional schedule are necessitated by trends in positive case reports, such information will be communicated to our community by the SchoolMessenger alert system and will be posted on our district website in a timely manner.

I wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy winter recess.

Sincerely,

Craig J. Tice, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
