Fayetteville-Manlius High School drama students will perform Disney’s “Newsies” as their spring musical in March.
Based on the Newsboy Strike of 1899, the Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from New York City. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from a reporter, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”
Performances will be 7 p.m. Friday, March 1 and 8; and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2 and 9 at F-M High School’s auditorium, which is located in House 1, 8201 E. Seneca Turnpike, Manlius.
Tickets go on sale Feb. 14 and are $10-$15 each. They can be purchased online any time or in person in the high school foyer 1-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday starting Feb. 25. If they are available, tickets may be purchased at the door starting one hour prior to each performance. Guests are encouraged to check the musical’s website for ticket availability, as shows often sell out.
