Watch out for fresh concrete during Fayetteville sidewalk project

Residents near Fayetteville Elementary and Wellwood Middle School will see sidewalk replacement work taking place in the Village of Fayetteville that is expected to last through Nov. 1.

Families are encouraged to remind their children to be careful not to walk or ride bicycles through any newly poured sidewalks that cross through Beard Park as they travel to and from the schools. If they would prefer their child ride the bus during the project, they can use the district’s online bus stop system, Infofinder, to find the closest bus stop to their home.

Crews from the Village of Fayetteville Department of Public Works have already begun removing sidewalks, and contractor EZ Paving will construct replacement concrete sidewalk on South Manlius Street between Lincoln Avenue and Clinton Street.

Contractors plan to pour the sidewalk through Beard Park on Oct. 15. The village is asking residents to avoid going through the park during that week as the concrete will need a few days to properly set.

The project is part of the Safe Routes to School grant that the village received and will bring village sidewalks into compliance with current federal Americans with Disabilities Act standards, according to the village.

Within the next few weeks, sidewalk work will also take place along the west side of Salt Springs Street between Redfield Avenue and Pine Ridge Road.

Work is expected to be complete by Nov. 1, but may be delayed due to weather conditions as concrete cannot be poured if it is raining.

Please call the village clerk’s office at 315-637-9864 with questions regarding this project.
