Three F-M students selected to be part of All-National Honor Ensembles

Three Fayetteville-Manlius High School seniors were selected to participate in the 2020 All-National Honor Ensembles as part of the National Association for Music Education’s (NAfME) annual conference.

F-M seniors Sadie Fridley, Lindsay Hebert and Gerard McCrohan were among 50 New York state students chosen to participate. The All-National Honor Ensembles represent the top performing high school musicians in the United States, according to the NAfME website. The ensembles are typically comprised of:

  • Concert Band,
  • Symphony Orchestra,
  • Mixed Choir,
  • Jazz Ensemble,
  • Guitar Ensemble, and
  • Modern Band.

Students selected to last year’s Conference All-State ensembles were allowed to send audition recordings to the All-National selection committee. The committee listened to the All-State musicians’ recordings from all 50 states and selected the ensembles based on those recordings.

The conference, which NAfME had planned to hold in November in Orlando, Florida, has been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. NAfME is working on planning a virtual event for the 2020 All-National Honor Ensembles program, according to its website.
