Hall of Distinction

The Fayetteville-Manlius Hall of Distinction provides a wonderful opportunity to honor and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the graduates of the school district and the daughters and sons of our community.

The distinguished alumni named to the Hall of Distinction represent an extraordinary range of personal and professional achievements. It is our hope that such recognition will inspire current students to their own achievement, both in high school and beyond.

As a school district that continually strives to instill in its students the concepts of achievement and excellence, the Hall of Distinction inductees serve as exceptional role models. Their personal accomplishments, either to their individual fields of endeavor or to the broader community, exemplify what our students may attain through initiative and commitment.

We are pleased to honor these inductees, to celebrate their successes and to have them reunited with the F-M School District. The inductees are invited to a reception and induction ceremony just prior to the High School Awards Night program and will be introduced at the Awards Night. In addition, a plaque for each inductee is displayed in the high school auditorium lobby.

Purpose

The Hall of Distinction was created to recognize and celebrate Fayetteville-Manlius for the accomplishments of its graduates and to inspire students to current and future success.

Nomination Criteria

Graduates eligible for selection to the F-M Hall of Distinction will have exemplified the tenets of F-M’s educational philosophy throughout their lives, will have been graduated from F-M for at least 15 years and will meet one or both of the following:

  • Outstanding social contribution to the broader community by making a difference in the lives of others.
  • Outstanding professional contribution to, or achievement in, their field of endeavor.

Nomination Process

Anyone may nominate a graduate for this distinction, including the individual herself/himself.  A deceased graduate may be nominated. An application will be eligible for consideration for two years, after which it will remain on file but will not be reconsidered unless:

  • The nominator/nominee provides us with additional materials in support of the application, or
  • The nominating committee decides to reconsider an application.

Information regarding the Hall of Distinction process will appear in newspapers, and the F-M website. Nomination forms will be available at the F-M District Office or on the website.

Nominations are accepted on an on-going basis. The Hall of Distinction Committee meets every other year to review the nominations.

Coordinating Committee

Although the school district maintains authority over all aspects of the Hall of Distinction, a Coordinating Committee will generally supervise the nomination and selection of inductees, as well as the induction ceremony.

The Coordinating Committee consists of seven members: a member of the Board of Education, Superintendent, an assistant superintendent, a building principal and three teachers.

The Coordinating Committee may modify at will any aspect of the Hall of Distinction process, except for its Purposes and Selection Criteria. Any change in Purpose and Selection Criteria must be approved by the Board of Education.

Selection Process

The Coordinating Committee will review the nominations and determine the new inductees to the F-M Hall of Distinction. The selection process will be based on the criteria outlined above, and all information discussed will be kept confidential.

Induction Ceremony

The inductees will be invited to a reception and induction ceremony just prior to the High School Awards Night program in May and will be introduced at Awards Night.

The Hall

A plaque for each inductee will be displayed in the high school auditorium lobby.
