Elementary School Counseling Services

Children's block spell out "counseling".

The elementary school years set the foundation for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Elementary school counseling staff collaborate with all school staff, parents and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment.

Each elementary school has a school counselor, school psychologist, family-school liaison (FSL) and student engagement specialist. Additionally, there are six family-school liaisons (FSL) that support all of the buildings; one in each building.

School Counseling Program (K-8)

A coordinated school counseling program in grades K-8 aims to:

  1. Prepare students to participate effectively in their current and future educational programs;
  2. Help those students exhibiting any attendance, academic, behavioral or adjustment problems;
  3. Educate students concerning avoidance of child sexual abuse; and
  4. Encourage parental involvement.

Parent/Guardian Conferences

Administrators, counselors, and teachers welcome the opportunity to confer with parents/guardians. Conferences may be arranged by contacting the teacher, counselor, or principal. Requests for meetings should be made at least a few days in advance.
