Fayetteville-Manlius High School students shared their work at the 21st Annual Central New York Film Festival, held at the Palace Theatre on June 3.
F-M’s Broadcast Journalism (BroJo) Club co-hosted the event. Students across eight local schools submitted more than 120 films to be considered. The top 37 films were then screened at the festival and 20 awards were handed out. Of those top 37 films, seven of them were created by F-M students.
F-M students received the following awards:
- Screened – Honorable Mention
- News/Sports Feature: “FMSPN Super Bowl” by Jeremy Albert and Zac Rabin
- Public Service Announcement (PSA): “You Wouldn’t Drive That Way” by Alon Dvorai, Avery Howe, Chase Jaconski, and Amelia Worthan
- Animation – Second Place
- “Frank and the Puzzling Snack” by Kristen Evans
- Short Documentary – First Place
- “18 Lives Continued” by Sydney McIntyre and Ella Stephenson
- Public Service Announcement/Commercial – Second Place
- “Screen Time PSA” by Abby Muscatello, Sydney McIntyre, and Quinn Coughlin
- Public Service Announcement/Commercial – Third Place
- “Twelve” by Quinn Coughlin
F-M student Quinn Coughlin also received one of four special awards, the American High Award, for her film “My Classmates’ Final Project.” The award comes with a tour and meet-and-greet at the American High film production studio in Liverpool.
