‘Dads Night’ raises $2,100 for Vera House, Inc.

A comedy show produced by and starring fathers and guardians of Fayetteville Elementary School students recently raised awareness and more than $2,000 for a local domestic and sexual violence service agency that provides shelter, advocacy, and counseling services for men, women and children.

On April 6, Wellwood Middle School hosted the elementary school’s fifth annual “Dads Night.” Featuring spoofs on school traditions and popular culture, choreographed dance routines and appearances by parents, school staff members and district leaders, the variety show entertained an audience of more than 500 guests and raised $2,100 for Vera House, Inc.

This year’s event was modeled after the late-night television variety show “Saturday Night Live” and featured a dozen skits. It was free to attend, but guests could make donations for Vera House at the show’s conclusion.

In addition to the more than 40 dads-turned-actors, Assemblyman Al Stirpe, F-M Superintendent Dr. Craig Tice, and Fayetteville Elementary School Principal Mrs. Eileen Lux made cameo appearances during the show.
