Educating students in the Fayetteville-Manlius community is a responsibility we take seriously. Collaborating with parents and guardians has always been a huge part of our success, and we know that the community desires to be connected and informed about what’s happening across our district and in our schools. Below are several communication tools we hope you will find helpful as we work together to fulfill the district’s vision of inspiring students and promoting personal success.
The F-M website is updated several times each week with information about district and building level activities, programs and announcements, including photos and videos. In addition to the district homepage, each school has its own web pages with school-specific information.
Paper flyers from outside organizations are no longer distributed within the schools. The district uses Peachjar, a free online service for schools that emails e-flyers directly to parents’ inboxes. They are also posted on the district website. Peachjar can be accessed via each school’s homepage through the F-M website. Each school web page has a Peachjar icon, which when clicked will take users to that school building’s Peachjar e-flyer web page.
Up-to-date event information about district and school events can be found on a comprehensive online calendar. Because you determine the calendar settings, if you have children in multiple schools, you can view events for each building on one calendar. There are also directions for how to sync individual school calendars to mobile devices.
Schoology allows parents, guardians and students to better collaborate, engage and stay in touch online with what’s happening in the classroom. Teachers will be able to post on their Schoology pages class assignments, announcements and other resources. Principals will share building-level information and resources that are targeted to parents/guardians rather than the general public.
Schoology may only be accessed by parents, guardians, district staff and students. It will be the go-to resource for parents/guardians and students to see what’s happening in the classroom and school buildings.
The district’s parent portal, SchoolTool, is a password protected secure website that offers parents and students online access to personalized information about a student’s academic program and progress.
Student report cards and bus schedules are posted, as well as interim reports and academic schedules for students in grades 6-12. Some teachers also use SchoolTool to post assignments and to communicate with individual students/families.
SchoolMessenger allows the district and each of its schools to send messages via telephone and email to notify parents and staff of upcoming school events, emergency situations, closings and delays, etc. Information regarding parents’ and guardians’ email addresses or telephone contact information in the SchoolTool database will be synced daily with SchoolMessenger so its contact information will always be current.
SchoolMessenger offers two levels of notifications: general, which will be sent only to the first phone number and the first two email addresses listed in a SchoolTool profile; and emergency notifications, which will go to every phone number and email address listed in the SchoolTool database.
This service is only available to parents and guardians and individuals they designate to receive emergency notifications.
