Community invited to help grant students’ wishes

With the holiday season around the corner, Fayetteville-Manlius School District’s counseling department is calling upon community members to help brighten the holiday season for local children in need.

This year, F-M’s family-school liaisons are organizing a holiday gift-giving program to help district families provide holiday gifts for their children. The program aims to help local families that are facing challenging times and have school-aged children residing in their household.

How to support the gift-giving program

Make a Donation

Monetary and gift card donations are being collected now through Dec. 15 so that staff can purchase students’ wish list items. Donations of any amount are appreciated and can be submitted in the following ways:

  • Venmo: Search for the account titled FMHS Sunshine (@fmhssunshine) using the online payment app. The account can be located under the “Business” tab and its profile photo is a smiling sunshine graphic. Please include “Holiday Giving” in the payment description. Donation amounts are not displayed publicly.
  • Check: Please make checks payable to: F-M High School Building Association and enclose in an envelope labeled “Holiday Giving.” Checks can be dropped off at any school office.
  • Gift cards: Please enclose gift cards in an envelope labeled “Holiday Giving” and drop it off at any school office. Please consider purchasing gift cards redeemable for stores that carry a wide variety of children’s items, such as Target or Walmart. Any redeemable amount is appreciated.

Program registration is open through Nov. 22

Could your child or children benefit from a little extra holiday cheer this season? The gift-giving program is open to all F-M school-age children (preschool through grade 12 students) whose families are facing challenging times.

To participate, please submit a wish list for each of your household students by Monday, Nov. 22. Wish lists should include clothing and shoe sizes (if applicable) and specific interests – such as favorite hobbies, team names, colors, characters, toys, etc. All items on the list may not be purchased, but providing specific information will help the shopper understand the child’s preferences.

All participating students’ names will be kept confidential. No identifying information will be shared with sponsors.
