Board Game & Puzzle Club

Wednesdays, Mrs. Scott, Library

Do you like Clue, Scattergories, and Chutes and Ladders?  Would you like to relax and play with friends each week? Then come and join Board Game & Puzzle Club in the Library on Wednesday afternoons!  We will be playing various board games or trying out some puzzles each meeting date, all the while enjoying a tasty snack.

Cartooning Club

Cartooning Club is for any Gr. 5 students who are looking for a relaxing environment to explore their artistic side.

Chess/Go Club

Tuesdays, Dr. Hunt, Room 311

Have fun with your friends learning to play Chess and/or Go, or come and work on your skills!

Coloring Club 5/6

Tuesdays, Grades 5 & 6, Mr. Matlock and Mrs. Bready, Room 211

Take a trip back to your younger years and be creative with crayons and colored pencils.  Students will have the opportunity to color a variety of pictures while enjoying a quiet and relaxing environment.

Coloring Club 7/8

Mondays, Grades 7 & 8, Mrs. Gay, Room 108

Come and unwind after a long day of school with a snack and a trip down Coloring Book Memory Lane.  Not your typical kindergarten coloring class, we’ll be using more sophisticated coloring books to create beautiful, frame-worthy pictures.

Cross Training Camp

Mondays, Grades 5-8

This activity is for any student looking to be active through a variety of fitness activities that range from running, use of the fitness center, Cross-fit, and high intensity interval training (HIIT). Meets outside or in the gymnasium.

Debate Team

Debate Team is open to 7th and 8th graders who want to discuss important topics, learn effective argumentation and public speaking skills, and collegially argue among themselves.

Engineering Club

Mondays, Grades 7 & 8, Room 325

Students will build a bridge in order to participate in the MOST’s Build ’Em and Bust ’Em bridge building competition

French Club

For French students who want to explore French culture.

German Club

Grade 6 –Selected Tuesdays, Mr. Ernst, Room 116

Are you a fan of the German language? Have you been thinking about choosing to study German in 7th Grade?  This club is for grade 6 students who have a strong interest in learning the German language.  We will meet about two times a month for fun activities involving speaking, listening to and singing in German.  Some cooking activities are also planned.  Listen for announcements about when and where to sign up.

Guitar Club

Tuesdays, Mrs. Koch, Room 319

The club will run from September through January 23 and is open to all interested students in all grades who want to learn to play the guitar.  We learn chords, strumming patterns and all kinds of songs.  Students of all playing abilities are welcome in this club.  Limit: 35 students.

Harry Potter Club

Open to all grades, Harry Potter Club is a place where fans of the books and movies can come together.  Crafts, baking, movie marathons, and even a sorting ceremony will happen throughout the year.

Historical Fiction Book Club

Thursdays, Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Freightenburgh, and Mrs. Stephens, Library

Join Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Freightenburgh, and Mrs. Stephens in the library for this exciting new activity.  Over the course of the year we will read at least four historical fiction books, Skype with authors, and engage in great discussions of this educational genre.  Snacks will be provided.  Limited to fifteen 7th and 8th graders.

Hornets Nest Club

Open to all grades. Come be a part of the school store club. Learn about the world of retail by helping to order, unpack, price and display items. Students will also help determine how profit from the store will be used.

Jazz Cats

Thursdays, Mr. Rossi, Room 317

Students will learn to play jazz and rock styles. Open to all wind instruments as well as piano, bass, drums and guitar. Rhythm section instruments may need to audition. We will begin rehearsing in early October. Thursday mornings at 7:15 a.m.

Jazz Improv

Thursdays, Mr. Rossi, Room 317

Jazz Improv is a fun and exciting way to get better at your jazz skills and make music with your friends. One of the most expressive and liberating things in music, Improv is open to all instruments including rhythm section (piano, bass, drums, guitar).  We will learn the basic head-solos-head form of jazz combo playing along with some basic theory and ear training as we play along with real and recorded instruments.

Magic The Gathering Club

Tuesdays, Mr. Six, Room 325

Strategy card game open to students in Gr. 5, 6, 7, & 8.  Strategy card game that encourages problem solving.  Students do not need to bring their own cards (unless they want to).

Math League

Selected Tuesdays, Mrs. Albicker, Mr. DeBlois, Miss Pomeroy & Mrs. Winje, room assignment will vary, Grades 7 & 8

Students can join the 7th and 8th grade math teachers for math enrichment and challenging math activities. Practice for the county math league will occur during this time as well.

“Melodyvas!” (Women’s Chorus)

This women’s Chorus is open to all 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grade girls who love to sing. We typically prepare a medley of songs from a Broadway show to perform in concert. Join us to help select the Broadway show music you would like to sing! No audition needed, just a love of singing and fun!

Men’s Chorus

Men’s Chorus is for any interested Gr. 5, 6, 7, & 8 grade boy who loves to sing.  No audition needed, just a love of singing fun music.

Open Art

Positivity Project

Ongoing activities and projects that will focus on building relationships and the Other People Matter mindset.

Pride Club

Mondays, Mrs. Bauder, Room 310

Open to all grades. Join an enrichment period club to develop relationships, establish a building-wide environment of acceptance and tolerance, to create new friendships, practice leadership, and support the community through fundraising efforts (Vera House, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, F-M Food Pantry, Books R Food for Thought, Ronald McDonald House). Snacks will be provided.

Programming Club

Open to students in grades 5-8.  Learn how to program using Scratch. Already know how to program, then join and become an advanced programmer.

Rubik’s Cube Club

Mondays, Room 212, open to all grades

Come join an exciting club where students can learn the theories and patterns of the Rubik’s cube. Practice solving these fun puzzles with friends.

Science Olympiad

Open to grades 7&8 to try out for selection

For individuals to participate in science-oriented activities beyond the regular classroom experience.  The opportunity exists to engage in scholastic competition with neighboring school districts.  Days and times to be determined.

Ski & Snowboard Club

Information during October, club begins in January,  Mondays, Gr. 5/6; Wednesday, Gr. 7/8, Mrs. Robinson, Toggenburg

Membership fee includes lift ticket, ski or snowboard lesson, and bus transportation to and from Toggenburg for six nights. Bus leaves school at 3:00 p.m. and returns at 8:00 p.m.

Spanish Club

Why should you join Spanish Club? It’s a great way to learn about a new culture, try new things and have fun with friends. All students are welcome.  Throughout the year we’ll celebrate Hispanic-themed holidays, play games, try delicious foods, and learn about new styles of music and dance. If you’re thinking about taking Spanish next year or are already enrolled, Spanish Club is the perfect place to learn, practice, and speak Spanish!  Listen to morning announcements for details or see Mrs. Giacona in Room 112.

Tuesday Morning Jazz Band

Tuesday Morning Jazz Band is a select big band style jazz band performing a variety of musical styles including swing, Latin, funk and rock. In addition to school concerts, the Tuesday Morning band occasionally travels to perform at outside festivals.  Tuesday mornings at 7:15 a.m.

Walking Club

Tuesdays, Grades 5–8, Ms. Smith and Mr. Bersani, Room 104

Weather permitting, walking club will meet in Room 104 and then head outside for a dose of fresh air.  Walk for exercise, to catch up with friends, or just to get outside for a chunk of time after school. We will walk the Eagle Hill grounds.

Yearbook Club
