F-M bowler qualifies to compete nationally

A Fayetteville-Manlius High School student recently qualified to compete in the Junior Gold Championships, an annual national tournament for the top male and female young bowlers in the United States.

Junior Adam Koss is one of 75 New York state students who qualified to compete in the boys national competition. Bowlers qualify for the tournament through regional competitions, and Adam bowled in four regional tournaments: Newark, Syracuse, Waverly and Webster. During the tournament held at AMF Strike N’ Spare Lanes in Syracuse, he qualified for the national competition, which is taking place July 7-19 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The tournament awards scholarships, and bowlers competing in the U20, U18 and U15 divisions have the opportunity to earn a spot on Junior Team USA, an elite group of top American boys and girls who represent the U.S. in international bowling competitions.

Adam is a member of the 2021 All-Central New York boys bowling team that consists of 18 bowlers from across Section III. Find out more about Adam in a recent syracuse.com article that featured the team’s members.
