FM Zen to host Small Read discussions on “The Anxious Generation”

Fayetteville-Manlius families and community members are invited to take part in a series of upcoming “Small Read” events focused on the book, “The Anxious Generation,” by Jonathan Haidt. Join FM Zen to discuss kids, cellphones, and mental health.

Three sessions are scheduled (feel free to join one, two, or all). They will be facilitated by Denise Mahns and Mary Halloran.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 7, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., F-M High School Library
  • Tuesday, Oct. 28, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., F-M High School Library
  • Tuesday, Nov. 18, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., F-M High School Library

FM Zen is a group of F-M High School educators who are dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellness of students through education, conversation, collaboration, and action. The group was inspired to host the series after taking part in a professional book read over summer break.

Since forming in 2015, the group has taken on a number of wellness-based projects in service to the school community. Some of the topics previously discussed were mental health and wellness; building-self efficacy and resilience in our students; and reframing how we think about stress.
