Dr. Magda C. Parvey is the Fayetteville-Manlius School District’s seventh superintendent of schools, a role she began on March 2, 2026.
Dr. Parvey brings more than 25 years of experience in school systems in Connecticut, North Carolina and New York. Over the course of her career, she has worked in educational systems where strong academics, data-driven instruction, clear communication and meaningful community and student engagement have guided decision-making.
Prior to joining Fayetteville-Manlius, Dr. Parvey was superintendent of the Andover Public Schools in Massachusetts. During her tenure at APS, Dr. Parvey created numerous avenues to foster engagement with students, staff, and the community. As student voice is a top priority for Dr. Parvey, she created the district’s first Superintendent Student Advisory Council, a platform for students to contribute their perspectives on a range of district initiatives.
She grew up in Brooklyn, attended New York colleges and universities, and her tenure at Fayetteville-Manlius brings her back to her New York roots. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College, a Master of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of Arts degree in educational leadership and technology, both from Adelphi University, and a Doctor of Education in administration and supervision from Fordham University.
She has a depth of experience and knowledge in curriculum design, instructional leadership and supervision. She believes in transparency, clear communication and being engaged in the schools and greater community to receive meaningful feedback and build shared values.
That belief aligns with her role in Leading Now, which focuses on strategic communications for educational leaders across the country. She is also a Fellow with the Education Policy Fellowship Program, a nationally recognized program that engages a diverse, collaborative community of strategic leaders to promote equitable education policy.
Dr. Parvey has permanent New York state certifications as a School District Administrator, School Administrator/Supervisor, and in Elementary Education (N-6). She also has a permanent New York State Extension of Certificate in Bilingual Elementary Education and is fluent in French and Haitian Creole.
Beyond her work in schools, Dr. Parvey values balance and reflection. Running is a personal passion, one that gives her time to think, recharge, and stay connected to her surroundings. Reading, travel, and time with family also help her reset. She views personal wellness as part of responsible leadership, particularly in roles that require steady judgment and long-term focus.
Dr. Parvey can be reached at 315-692-1200.
