Board approves appointments of substitute administrators

The following letter was sent to Eagle Hill Middle School families from Fayetteville-Manlius Superintendent Craig J. Tice on Oct. 19 via SchoolMessenger email.

Dear Eagle Hill families and staff,

On Oct. 18, the Fayetteville-Manlius Board of Education approved the appointment of two substitute administrators. Eagle Hill Middle School Principal Maureen McCrystal will be on a leave of absence effective immediately. Ms. McCrystal is a valued member of our administrative team and we anticipate that she will return to her position later in the school year.

Until then, the board approved Paula Kopp to serve as the school’s interim principal. Ms. Kopp has a wealth of experience in K-12 administrative positions, including having previously served as Wellwood Middle School’s interim assistant principal. We are pleased to welcome her back to the F-M family.

We also have a change taking place at the assistant principal level. As you may know, Eagle Hill Assistant Principal Krissy Purcell recently accepted a position with the Solvay Union Free School District as its coordinator of social emotional learning, community partnerships and family engagement effective Oct. 21. We wish her all the best in her new endeavor.

At last night’s meeting, the board approved Mary Ann Murphy as Eagle Hill’s interim assistant principal. Ms. Murphy has been a long-time member of the Tully Central School District community, with experience as a principal and assistant principal.

The appointments of Ms. Kopp and Ms. Murphy are effective immediately. We are confident that Eagle Hill is in good hands, and that Ms. Kopp and Ms. Murphy will quickly acclimate themselves.

If you have questions or concerns about these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me by phone or email: 315-692-1200 or ctice@fmschools.org.

Sincerely,
Craig J. Tice
Superintendent of Schools
