During its January 8 meeting, the F-M Board of Education voted to appoint Kelly Fumarola as a temporary board member to replace former board Vice President Sharon Lindars, who passed away in December.
Fumarola has served two terms on the F-M Board of Education, and just completed her most recent three-year term in June. Current board members agreed that due to her leaving the board just six months ago, the appointment of Fumarola will provide a seamless transition in helping finish out this year’s work.
Fumarola has lived in the district for 15 years and she and her husband, Adam, have two children, one a freshman at Binghamton University and one a freshman at F-M High School. She has previously served on the F-M Community Facility Task Force and is a former co-vice president and president of Fayetteville Elementary School’s Home and School Association.
This appointment will be effective through May 21, when the community will vote for a permanent replacement for Lindars during the 2024 school budget vote. The board did not elect a new Vice President to replace Lindars during its Jan. 8 meeting, and will discuss that appointment again during the next meeting on Jan. 22.
