District adapts amid nationwide milk carton shortage

The Fayetteville-Manlius School District is adapting its cafeteria drink options due to a national shortage of half-pint milk cartons. The district’s milk vendor said the shortage will likely impact milk delivery through January or February.

Right now, F-M’s Food Service Department is working on different solutions. The plan is to purchase water bottles to replace milk, purchasing a one-month inventory ahead of when it is needed. Food Services is also looking into purchasing cups and bulk milk that can be poured and shared with students. This option is more labor-intensive, and cooler space will need to be assessed to store the different sized milk containers.

This week, cups of milk will be available to students who need it. Please continue to check the website for updates.
