District announces future communication tool roll-out

Recently, some parents who are employed in other school systems received a message through ParentSquare (a school communication app), requesting confirmation of their student. This message was sent to ParentSquare users who already have an existing account through a different school district.

The F-M School District will eventually make the transition from SchoolMessenger to ParentSquare for the 2023-2024 school year. In preparation of its launch, ParentSquare and district officials along with Central New York Regional Information Center (BOCES) personnel have started the process of uploading data from our district.

During this data upload, ParentSquare recognizes if a parent or staff member is part of another district that uses ParentSquare and merges their accounts; triggering the confirmation message that was sent.

While you can confirm your F-M student, please know that no district communication will come through ParentSquare until its official launch. No action is required on your part at this time; however, parents who received a message are encouraged to confirm their students to ensure a smooth transition in the months to come. SchoolMessenger will continue to be one of our primary methods of communication for the 2022-2023 school year.
