On Saturday morning, Superintendent Dr. Magda Parvey hosted a community meet-and-greet at Of Moose and Mind Bookshop in Manlius, and the F-M community showed up!
The bookshop filled quickly. Families, parents, neighbors, and longtime residents came throughout the morning to introduce themselves, share what matters to them, and welcome Dr. Parvey to the community. The space was cozy and intimate, which turned out to be exactly right for the kind of conversations that unfolded.
Dr. Parvey greeted everyone who walked through the door. She sat with community members one on one and in small groups, listening carefully and engaging thoughtfully with whatever was on their minds. The conversations were spontaneous and genuine, and the room was full of laughter and warmth.
One student recognized Dr. Parvey from her school visits earlier in the month. It was a small moment that captured something real about how Dr. Parvey’s first weeks at F-M have gone. People came curious and left encouraged. The feedback was consistent: she listened, she was warm, she made people feel heard.
Dr. Parvey brought surveys for community members to share their thoughts and priorities, and many took the opportunity to fill them out before heading home.
Saturday was a beginning. More opportunities to connect with Dr. Parvey will be announced throughout the spring. In the meantime, if there are community events or organizations you think she should know about, reach out to Sarah Gridley at sgridley@fmschools.org.
