Experienced Educational Leader to Begin in Spring 2026
The Fayetteville-Manlius Board of Education voted tonight to appoint Dr. Magda Parvey as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Parvey brings over 20 years of educational leadership experience, including 13 years in central office administration, and is expected to begin her tenure in the spring. Additional details about the transition will be shared in the coming days.
“Dr. Parvey is an exceptional leader whose experience, values, and vision align perfectly with the needs and priorities of our district,” said Sarah Fitzgerald, Board of Education President. “The Board conducted a thorough, deliberate search process, and we are confident that Dr. Parvey’s proven track record in curriculum innovation, fiscal stewardship, and community engagement makes her the right leader for F-M’s future. We are thrilled to welcome her to our community.”
Dr. Parvey currently serves as Superintendent of Andover Public Schools in Massachusetts. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Fordham University and has served in leadership roles in several high-performing districts, including New Rochelle, NY, Middletown, CT, and Chapel Hill-Carrboro, NC.
“I am deeply honored by the Board’s confidence and excited to join the Fayetteville-Manlius community,” said Dr. Parvey. “F-M has a strong foundation of excellence in academics, athletics and the fine arts, dedicated educators, engaged families, and a commitment to opportunities for all students. I look forward to listening, learning, and working in partnership with students, staff, and families as we write the district’s next chapter together.”
The Board conducted a confidential search process guided by Dr. Matthew Cook of OCM BOCES. The process incorporated community feedback through surveys, stakeholder focus groups, multiple rounds of candidate interviews, and careful consideration of each candidate’s qualifications and leadership experience.
The Board expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Craig Tice, who has served as Superintendent since 2015 and will retire in late February. “Dr. Tice has provided steady, principled leadership for more than a decade, and we are grateful for the strong foundation he has built,” Fitzgerald said.
The Board will announce the interim superintendent plan in the coming days to ensure continuity during the transition period.
Dr. Parvey will begin meeting with staff, students, families, and community members in the coming weeks. Additional information about transition activities and opportunities to engage with Dr. Parvey will be shared in the days ahead.
