Oct. 19-23 is National School Bus Safety Week, a time to recognize our transportation staff and the shared responsibility of keeping students safe.
Each school day, families count on our transportation team to help their children get to school and home safely. That work starts well before students step onto the bus, with careful planning and vehicle maintenance. We are grateful for the care our staff brings to this work and to the students who ride with them each day.
On Wednesday, Oct. 21, New York State’s Operation Safe Stop will call attention to the dangers of illegally passing stopped school buses. Motorists must stop for school buses with flashing red lights and watch for children boarding or exiting. Slowing down and staying alert near school buses helps ensure students can safely get on and off.
Keeping students safe takes a year-round commitment. Thank you to our transportation staff for the work they do every day, and to our families and community members for doing their part.
