Voters can preview ballot language in preparation for May 21 budget vote

On Tuesday, May 21, Fayetteville-Manlius School district residents will vote on:

In order to be legally qualified to vote, individuals must be:

  • A United States citizen
  • A district resident for 30 days prior to the vote
  • At least 18 years old
  • Registered to vote

Below is the wording of the actual propositions that voters will find on the May 21 ballot:

BUDGET RESOLUTION – PROPOSITION NO. 1

Shall the Board of Education of the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District be authorized to expend a sum not to exceed $111,254,879 during the fiscal year 2024-25 as general fund appropriations as set forth in its statement of estimated expenses and to levy the necessary taxes for the local contribution thereto?

BUS BONDING – PROPOSITION NO. 2

Shall the Board of Education of the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District be authorized to purchase and finance six (6) student transport vehicles, including necessary furnishings, fixtures and equipment and all other costs incidental thereto, and expend a total sum not to exceed $1,201,885, which is estimated to be the total maximum cost thereof, and said amount, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and, in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District, in the principal amount not to exceed $1,201,885, shall be issued?

CAPITAL PROJECT – PROPOSITION NO. 3

Shall the Board of Education undertake a capital project consisting of renovations, reconstruction and improvements to the Fayetteville-Manlius High School, Wellwood Middle School, Eagle Hill Middle School, Enders Elementary, Fayetteville Elementary, Mott Road Elementary, District Office, the Support Services Maintenance Building, Bus Garage, Transportation Center and the Conference Center including, but not limited to, roofing, security, HVAC controls and associated mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, original furnishings, fixtures and equipment, architectural fees, and all other costs incidental to such work (the “Project”) at a total estimated cost not to exceed $15,400,000, and obtain the necessary funds by using $860,000 from the available district funds, using any available State building aid and, to the extent necessary, the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of the School District to be collected in annual installments in the years and in the amounts as the Board of Education shall determine and in anticipation of such tax shall the School District be authorized to issue up to $14,540,000 of obligations of the School District and levy a tax to pay the interest thereon when due.

EX OFFICIO STUDENT BOARD MEMBER – PROPOSITION NO. 4

Shall there be a high school student to serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Education, and thereby entitled to sit with the Board members at all its public meetings, and participate therein, but without authority to vote on matters before the Board or to attend executive session?

FAYETTEVILLE FREE LIBRARY – PROPOSITION NO. 5

Shall the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District, Onondaga County, New York, be authorized to levy taxes in the amount of $2,043,278 for the annual support of the Fayetteville Free Library, Fayetteville, New York, and pay over such monies to the trustees of the library for library services for the benefit of residents of the school district during the 2024-25 fiscal year?

MANLIUS LIBRARY – PROPOSITION NO. 6

Shall the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District, Onondaga County, New York, be authorized to levy taxes in the amount of $1,470,568 for the annual support of the Manlius Library, Manlius, New York, and pay over such monies to the trustees of the library for library services for the benefit of residents of the school district during the 2024-25 fiscal year?

(3) If you mark more than three (3) names or if for any reason it is impossible to determine your choice of candidate for an office, your vote shall not be counted for such office but shall be deemed a blank vote thereon.
