Voices of F-M: 2019-2020

“F-M provided an outstanding educational foundation for my college education. Often, in classes at my university, professors assume that their students possess a high baseline level of knowledge, which can create problems for some of my classmates. However, thanks to the great work done by my teachers at F-M, I never feel that I am starting out behind. I’ve come to appreciate both the volume of content F-M teachers instilled and the degree of challenge they imposed, both of which have prepared me well.”

“Going to F-M equipped me for my life after graduation so much more than I could have even imagined at the time. My transition to college academics was seamless, as the rigorous classes and phenomenal teachers in the F-M district had set me up for success. In addition to the education I received, F-M helped me to grow into the person I am today through the support system and valuable opportunities provided. The number of clubs and electives offered at the high school is truly remarkable and I was able to explore my interests and gain leadership experience that will continue to serve me long, long after graduating. The teachers of this district truly care about each and every one of their students and help them to succeed, both inside and outside of the classroom. I will forever be grateful for my time at F-M.”

“I love working at F-M because of the professionalism and dedication of the faculty and staff to our mission of providing a quality education and growthful experience for all of our students. I am surrounded by people who go above and beyond as a matter of daily practice, and that’s inspiring to me. Our educators are true difference-makers in the lives of students and families. I’ve appreciated the value the district places on professional development and the willingness to support faculty-initiated efforts like the work of the high school’s FM Zen group with The Big Read and the creation of the district’s therapy dog program.”

“One thing I really love about F-M is our strong character education program. We incorporate the Positivity Project, which lays a strong foundation of teaching students about their strengths, how to use them and, more importantly, how to see them in others. Especially in our current times, it is so crucial for the students to recognize their strengths and understand that they all have them! Understanding their strengths will help them problem solve, work with others and appreciate the differences in others. We all bring something different to the table and recognizing what that is can be a very powerful tool for them now and throughout their lives.
