F-M students participate in annual coding event

Each year, Lockheed Martin hosts Code Quest, a computer programming competition where teams of two to three high school students work together to solve problems by using JAVA, Python, C#, and/or C++ programming to complete the “quest”. The problem set consists of 20 to 30 challenging problems created by Lockheed Martin engineers and computer programmers.

This year’s Code Quest returned to being in-person at the Owego Lockheed Martin facilities on April 22.

F-M had two sets of students attend: the senior team – Xavier Greene, Ahmad Hassan, and Elvis Li (these three are also on the F-M Technology Committee) and the sophomore team – Deniz Gursey, Nicole Zheng, Ritvik Mehta.

Along with the friendly competition, our teams met up with Maya Chiesa from F-M’s Class of 2017, who now works at the Lockheed facility. She spoke about job opportunities in programming careers and visited with our students.

We wish to congratulate every team that participated in this year’s event and celebrate the achievements of our F-M teams! Way to go!
