Students commit to continue their athletic careers in college

Twenty-seven Fayetteville-Manlius High School student-athletes recently committed to competing at the next level.Twenty-seven F-M HS students pose for a picture at the National Letter of Intent ceremony.

The students signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers in college during the 2023-24 school year. The students participated in an official ceremony May 15 in front of family, friends and coaches at F-M High School.

A National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and a National Letter of Intent member institution. By signing the letters, prospective student-athletes agree to attend the institution full-time for one academic year.

The following F-M students recently signed their letters:

Seth Albert

Seth Albert will play Division III baseball at Clarkson University. During his athletic career, Seth served as captain of the baseball team, was a state runner-up and named a two-time All-League team member. Seth thanks Coach Nelson, Coach Maloney, Dickie Woodridge and his parents for his success.

John Angelicola

John Angelicola will play Division I lacrosse at Binghamton University. He thanks the F-M varsity athletics staff, Brent Kessler, his friends, family and community for their roles in his athletic journey.

DJ Concannon

DJ Concannon will play Division III football at the University of Rochester. He thanks Coach Sully, Coach Fiacco, Coach Avellino, Coach Aldrich, his parents and teammates for their support and encouragement.

Max Danaher will play Division I baseball at Le Moyne College. Throughout his athletic career, Max served as the team captain for the baseball, basketball and volleyball teams. Max was also a baseball and volleyball Sectional Champion. He thanks Coach Tucci, Coach Gangloff and Hays, Coach Nelson, Coach Maloney, Mr. Sugar, and especially Mrs. Sherman and Mrs. Smith for his athletic success and achievements.

Tyler Dixie

Tyler Dixie will play Division I football at Hampton University. During his athletic career, Tyler was named 2021 Offensive Lineman of the Year. Tyler was also named to First Team All-League, First Team Honorable Mention and First Team All-CNY. He thanks Coach Sully, Coach Fiacc and his parents for their contributions to his athletic success. 

Sam Duncanson

Sam Duncanson will play Division II soccer at Le Moyne College. He was named to the All-State and All-CNY teams during his athletic career. Sam thanks Coach Fonseco and his family for their support.

Michael Dutch

Michael Dutch will play Division III baseball at Keuka College. He thanks his parents, Cory Nelson, Dan Maloney and Dickie Woodridge for their support throughout his athletic career. 

Tyler Hutcheson

Tyler Hutcheson will play Division III lacrosse at Clarkson University. Tyler played two years of both varsity lacrosse and basketball during his athletic career. He thanks Coach Madden, Coach Concannon, Coach Reyna, Coach Basile and Coach Bergan for giving him this opportunity. Tyler also thanks his parents and teammates for supporting him along the way.

Hannah Kaercher

Hannah Kaercher plans to continue her running career at Dartmouth College at the Division I level. She was an F-M Section III Scholar Athlete, on the 2019 NYSPHSAA championship XC team and a member of four Section III championship cross country teams. Hannah thanks Coach Aris, her parents, sister and teammates for their support and contributions to her athletic endeavors.

Samuel Kuss

Samuel Kuss will play Division III baseball at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During his athletic career, he was an All League team member and state runner-up. Samuel thanks his parents, Coaches Nelson, Maloney and Woodridge and all his teammates for their continued support.

George LaCombe

George LaCombe will play Division I lacrosse at Cornell University. During his athletic career, George was on the 2021 Sectional Championship team. He was also selected to the 2022 Second Team All-State and 2022 All-CNY team. George thanks Coaches Madden, Concannon, Reyna, Basil, Fiacco, Avellino and his parents for their encouragement.

Rob Madden

Rob Madden will play Division II lacrosse at Mercyhurst University. In his junior year, he was named League Attack Honorable Mention and F-M Rookie of the Year. This year, he’s serving as the captain of the lacrosse team. Rob thanks his parents, Coach Reyna, Coach Concannon and Coach Basile for their support.

Liam Malgieri

Liam Malgieri will play Division III football at SUNY Brockport. His athletic achievements include two-time First Team All League, First Team All-CNY, Second Team All-CNY, All-State and the 2022 F-M Offensive Player of the Year. Liam was also selected as captain for the Section 3/4 All Star Game and Section 3 All Star Game. He thanks his parents, Coaches Ben Rayland, Fiacco, Sullivan, Aldrich, Wood and Avellino for this athletic success.

Alexander Martinez

Alexander Martinez plans to continue his running career at the University of Toledo at the Division I level. His athletic achievements include finishing in fifth place in States and eighth place in federation in the indoor 3200m. Alexander thanks Coach Aris, Coach Brazeil and F-M cross country/track & field teams for helping him reach these milestones.

Natalie Mayne

Natalie Mayne will play Division III softball at Skidmore College. During her athletic career, Natalie was named to the Second Team All League. She thanks Coach Cantor, Coach Kasch and her teammates for supporting her in her athletic endeavors.

Mara McBride

Mara McBride will continue her rowing career at Syracuse University at the Division I level. She thanks her coaches and teammates who helped get her this far. Mara also thanks her mom for being her biggest supporter. 

Grace Metnick

Grace Metnick will continue her rowing career at Canisius University at the Division I level. She was captain of the rowing team and a state champion in 2022. Grace thanks Coach Cusano, Coach Andrews and her brother Hunter Metnick for their support.

Zoe Myint will play Division I volleyball at Binghamton University. She is a four-year varsity athlete and a four-year Student Athletic Advisory Council member. In 2021, Zoe was sectional champion, named to First Team All League and First Team All-CNY. Zoe is also serving as the volleyball team captain in her senior year. She thanks her family, teammates, Coaches Jerime McHerron, Rob Werkmeister, Ron Cappellino and Nicksen Sivongsa for their support and encouragement.

Kaylene Noble

Kaylene Noble will play Division III volleyball at St. John Fisher University. During her athletic career, Kaylene was named a three-time First Team All-CNY, Fifth Team All-State and was a Sectional Champion. Kaylene thanks Jerime McHaron and Jay Hays for their contributions to her athletic success.

Emily Noel

Emily Noel will play Division I lacrosse at Le Moyne College. She was a Section lll All-League player and is the lacrosse team captain for her senior year. Emily thanks Kate Noel, Drew White and her F-M coaches for the support they’ve provided her.

Anthony Otis

Anthony Otis will run Division I track & field at the University of Toledo. His athletic accomplishments include being named First Team All-CNY three times, First Team All-State, Third Team All-State and being a member of an undefeated team. Anthony also was a member of an undefeated team his sophomore year, placed eighth at individual states as a junior, and as a senior he placed fourth at individual states and second in the indoor 1600m sectional championship. He thanks Coach Aris, his mom, dad and brothers for their support throughout the years.

Stephen Probst

Stephen Probst will play Division III soccer at St. John Fisher University. He was a 2021 Section 3 Champion, 2021 Regional Champion and named First Team All League throughout his athletic career. Stephen thanks Jeff Hammond and Corey Fonseca for their encouragement and support.

Trevor Roe

Trevor Roe will play Division I basketball at Radford University. He is a member of the 1,000 point club, was named to First Team All-CNY, First Team All League, Second Team All League, 10th Team All State, 11th Team All State and SCAC metro leading scorer, rebounder and blocks. Trevor thanks Coach Tucci, Coach Burns, Coach Beilak, Coach Hickey, Coach Avelino and his parents for their support.

Carine Smith

Carine Smith will play DIvision III field hockey at Washington College. Her athletic achievements include being a four-year varsity starter, a two-time All League member and participating in USA Field Hockey Futures level two. Carine thanks her mom, for being a team mom and helping out so much on the team, her dad for driving her to countless tournaments and hours at the YMCA practicing with her. She also thanks her club coach, Coach Wagner, who not only coached her for the past two years in indoor with the CNY Rage club team, but also coached her as an ice hockey player until she switched to field hockey. 

Eitan Spinoza

Eitan Spinoza will play Division II baseball at D’Youville University. During his athletic career, he was a member of the Israeli National Team. Eitan thanks his family, friends and Coach Nelson and Coach Maloney for all their support and encouragement along the way. 

Luke Weisiger

Luke Weisiger will play Division III golf at Clarkson University. He thanks his dad, Jay Catalano, Mike DeBlois and Mikey Dutch for their role in his athletic success.
