Fayetteville-Manlius School District music students in grades 4 through 12 can now submit entries to the 2023 SBO+ Scholarship Essay Contest.

This nationwide music scholarship contest is open to students who are enrolled in any K-12 public or private school instrumental or vocal program. In the 23 year history of the contest, this is the first year it has been open to vocal students.

Essay entries must be 250 words or less and respond to the following –

Five winning entries will be selected from each category:

  • Students in grades 4 through 8
  • Students in grades 9 through 12

All ten winners will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, music educators who have a student with a winning entry will receive merchandise prizes worth up to $6,000 contributed by NAMM Foundation, Alfred, MakeMusic, Hal Leonard, Yamaha, Casio, Focusrite and Adam Audio.

Submissions will be accepted through April 30, 2023 and the winners will be announced in the June 2023 issue of SBO+ Magazine.
