Reminder: Unauthorized recording is not permitted on school grounds

In an effort to maintain a safe, orderly and respectful learning environment, the Fayetteville-Manlius School District wants to remind parents, guardians and community members that unauthorized audio/video recording is not permitted on school grounds.

This action is a violation of the “computer/electronic communication misuse” provisions of the F-M Code of Conduct, which applies to students, staff members and visitors to the campus.

“The safety of our students and staff members is paramount,” F-M Superintendent Craig J. Tice said. “Using an electronic recording device without consent presents the possibility for student privacy and security breaches, among other concerns.”

Individuals who violate this behavioral expectation will be subject to disciplinary consequences, per the Code of Conduct. This includes a warning, to removal from an activity (if applicable), and potentially permanent prohibition from attendance at a school building or school district activities.

If an individual wishes to express a viewpoint or share feedback about a particular school district-related issue, they are encouraged to set up an appointment in advance with administration. Phone calls, in-person or virtual meetings or written communication are welcome, as well as participation in public comment sessions scheduled at regular board of education meetings (subject to the terms of those sessions as set forth by the board).
