Six students earn special awards for high scores on National French Contest exam

Fayetteville-Manlius School District French language students continued a tradition of excellence in the recent National French Contest.  

Wellwood Middle School and Fayetteville-Manlius High School students in grades 7-12 took in March the online competitive test that is also known as Le Grand Concours and sponsored annually by the American Association of Teachers of French. The exam tests students’ listening, reading and grammar skills in French. Almost 47,000 students across the United States participated. 

Six F-M students were recognized with a special prize from the Central New York chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French for earning the highest score in Central New York in their level and division: 

  • Emilio Ibarra Marpaud on the Level 1 exam; Grade 8 Wellwood Middle School 
    • Emilio earned a perfect score and was recognized with a platinum medal and a plaque.
  • Maggie Huang on the Level 3 exam; Grade 10 F-M High School 
  • João Alves on the Level 3 exam; Grade 11 F-M High School 
  • Allie Fischi on the Level 4 exam; Grade 11 F-M High School 
  • Quincey Hack on the Level 5 exam; Grade 12 F-M High School 
  • Daniel Manta on the Level 5 exam; Grade 12 F-M High School
