F-M students excel at National Latin Exam, one student earns a perfect score

More than 80 Fayetteville-Manlius students have received awards on the National Latin Exam in 2026, including one who earned a perfect score.

The National Latin Exam, sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, is a multiple-choice test with a time limit of 45 minutes, offered to students on eight levels. It’s taken by more than 100,000 students in all 50 states and 26 other countries.

40 students at F-M High School received awards, including nine gold medals, eight silver medals, 10 magna cum laude designations, and 13 cum laude designations.

42 Eagle Hill and Wellwood Middle School students also received awards as first and second-year Latin students. This includes 17 gold medals, 10 silver medals, 9 magna cum laude designations, and 6 cum laude designations.

National Latin Exam awards are based upon the annual, national average for each separate exam. Students are recognized on various levels and awarded medals and/or certificates based on their performance. Students are not evaluated on a comparative basis, but solely on their own performance on the exam.

Congratulations to all participants and award winners!
