Nine videos created by Fayetteville-Manlius High School students were recently selected and shown at the 2026 Central New York High School Film Festival.
Students from across the region submitted more than 100 films to the festival for consideration, and about 48 were chosen to be screened on the night of the festival exhibition, which was held June 2 at East Syracuse Minoa High School. The night was a culminating event for students to celebrate fellow filmmakers and network with other schools with video programs.
The nine F-M videos selected for viewing were created by students in F-M’s Broadcast Journalism and Film Department and its Art Department. Industry professionals from across the country anonymously judged the student work, and an awards ceremony followed the film viewings. Seven F-M projects won awards:
- Quinn Coughlin: First Place Sports Edit
- Hari Yoganathan: First Place Animation
- Ella Komanecky: Second Place Animation
- Charlie Ness: First Place Original Film
- Emma Camp: Second Place News Package
- Jordan Hearn, Landen Baldwin-Burns and Quinn Coughlin: Second Place Documentary
- Xandria Duignan: Third Place Documentary
The festival also selected “Judge Jordan” by Isa Crain and “You Matter” by Mary Ottaviano to show during the exhibition.
